NORTH LOOP - AUSTIN, TX
The original Home Slice Pizza is a staple of South Austin. When the restaurant decided to open a new location, our team worked with the owner and the architect to bring the Home Slice brand (and its delicious pizza) to North Austin.
An iconic Austin brand born in South Austin, Home Slice Pizza has grown famous for their authentic New York-style pizza. The decision to open a second location brought several design challenges, including retrofitting an existing building to accommodate a restaurant and commissary kitchen, coordinating interior aesthetics to match the original Home Slice feel, as well as a complicated HVAC design for the relatively small kitchen.
Our team worked closely with the architect to make sure the interior design, including the open kitchen with direct visibility to customers, was just right. The owner was actively involved in the design as well, providing valuable feedback on the overall look and feel of the restaurant.
The HVAC design in the kitchen needed to tie into kitchen hoods with pizza ovens and a fryer station, but changes to kitchen equipment during design and construction meant the space was constantly evolving. Extensive coordination with the architect ensured the system was fully functional with each new design iteration.
